You think you have found the one - now all you need to do is find the perfect engagement ring. Proposing can be a daunting task, especially when you don't know where to start. Don't worry we are here to help with our carefully curated proposal guide.

Temprell's guide on how to propose

1) You found the one!
Congratulations! You have found the one person that you want to be with forever! It marks the end of your single life and you can finally live happily ever after. All of the countless chick flicks you have watched over the years to prepare for this moment can finally be put to practice. It's a new chapter of your life that you and your partner can embark on together...Aww!

2) Ring Research
So, you finally plucked up the courage to ask them to marry you and you're now wondering how to pick the perfect ring. Searching for a ring can be a bit of a mind field, especially when you're not too sure of where to start. Don't worry, we are here to help! Before you get yourself into a panic we have put together a few helpful tips to help you on your journey to picking the perfect ring.

Decide on a budget

You may have heard many different myths surrounding how much you should spend on an engagement ring. The most famous being the 'two months salary' rule. However, modern-day romance has changed perspective surrounding cost, with many brides opting for budget Pinterest weddings and second-hand wedding dresses to reduce the cost of a wedding. The truth is, picking the perfect engagement ring should be based around what you can afford. Here at Temprell, we have a range of engagement rings to suit a variety of budgets whilst still maintaining the quality and craftsmanship that we strive to achieve regardless of the price.

Gather Inspiration

To gather inspiration, start with the types of clothing and accessories your partner wears. Do they wear jewellery that is quite plain and contemporary or are they someone that likes to buy statement pieces to stand out from the crowd? Take a sneak peak into their jewellery box to see if you can gather yourself some information. Another common place to find inspiration is your partners Pinterest boards and Instagram accounts. Take a look and see if they have been gathering pictures of their favourite pieces of jewellery or even engagement rings. You might just find the clues have been there all along...

Once you have gathered the clues you may be closer to cracking the case. To give you some help, here is a variety of shapes and styles that are available at the Temprell studio.

3) Purchase the ring
So, you have gathered yourself some ideas of what you think your partner may like - or you have chosen a ring off our website and you're ready to purchase a ring from the Temprell studio. Firstly, congratulations on getting this far on your journey, we know its not the easiest task! But now it's time for you to relax and let us do the rest.

Choosing an engagement ring may seem daunting at first, but with a little advice form our experts you'll be well on your way to selecting the perfect ring. If you have set your sights on buying a diamond engagement ring, it is important to know the four C's (don't worry - we will explain all of this at your appointment) for now, here is a quick overview of what they mean:

Cut - The cut of the diamond (oval, cushion, marquise, pear, Ascher, round brilliant, princess, emerald)
Colour - The GIA colour scheme extends from D (colourless) to Z (light yellow)
Clarity - The GIA clarity scale includes eleven clarity grades ranging from flawless to I
Carat - The weight of the diamond

At Temprell, we rigorously select our diamonds for cuts. We're constantly on the look out for the very best in terms of artistry and brilliance - we never buy anything but the very best. You can be rest assured that your diamond isn't just the real thing but the best real thing.

4) Insure the ring

Now you have purchased the ring, you may want to consider purchasing insurance. After all, your new ring will begin to hold some sentimental value, so it is important you are covered for that extra piece of mind. An insurance company we recommend is TH MARCH - you can find a link to the website below.

5) Decide when you will propose
You've got the ring and it is insured, all you need to do now is decide when you're going to pop the question. Are you going on holiday? is there a special occasion that it is on the horizon? Or maybe, you're planning something more spontaneous? Whatever day you decide to choose , make sure it is when you and your loved one are together where you wont be disturbed.

6) Consider how you will propose
There are lots of ways you can make your proposals that extra bit special and we have lots of ideas on our Instagram and Facebook page. Take inspiration from #yourtemprellstory with lots of couples sharing their special moments on how they popped the question. Have you seen our holiday proposal blog?
